Terms of Use
1. The agreement
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Pelio iOS application (“Pelio”, “app”, “we”, “us”). They work together with the Privacy Policy and the End User License Agreement (EULA). Those documents are available separately in the app and alongside this file.
By creating a local identity, completing registration, or otherwise using Pelio, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account and delete the app.
2. Eligibility and device requirements
You must be 18 years of age or older. Pelio is not directed to children. If we learn that a local identity was created by someone under 18, we may delete that identity’s on-device data.
Pelio is an iPhone app and requires a supported version of iOS. It is designed for iPhone portrait use. It is not offered as an Android app, a web app, an iPad-optimized layout, or a Mac Catalyst product in this version.
3. Your photos, captions, and profile
You are solely responsible for every photo, caption, weekly reflection, Community post, chat image, and profile field you save. You represent that you have all rights needed to use that content in Pelio and that your use does not violate law or third-party rights.
You must not use Pelio to store or share (including in local Community or chat simulations) content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, fraudulent, infringing, sexually exploitative of minors, or otherwise prohibited. We may refuse, remove, or block access for local identities that violate these rules.
When you save a photo, Pelio may copy it into the app’s private storage so the memory remains available if the original is later removed from the system Photos library. That copy remains on this device in this version.
4. Community, reports, and chat (local simulation)
In this version, Community feed, posts, comments, likes, reports, blocks, and 1:1 chat are simulated on this device using local seed data and your local actions. They are not transmitted to other people, other devices, or a remote moderation team.
Submitting a report creates a local record only. It does not mean a human reviewer has received or acted on the report. Blocking another simulated or local user hides content for your current identity and may delete the local conversation with that user; it does not remove content from a global network because no such live network exists yet.
Daily Memories stay private unless you separately create a Community post by choosing a photo and publishing it.
5. Local accounts and sessions
Pelio supports local identities on this iPhone (for example email sign-in or Sign in with Apple flows presented in the app). Sign Out ends the session and keeps that identity’s on-device content. Delete Account permanently removes that identity’s photos (private copies), memories, profile, favorites, weekly reflections, community content, comments, reports, blocks, chat, and Coin history on this device.
After Delete Account, signing up again with the same email creates a new user id with empty personal content. It does not restore the deleted identity.
We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms or use the app unlawfully.
6. Local data risk
Memories, Coins, Community simulation data, chat, and related records live on this iPhone. Uninstalling Pelio, clearing app data, resetting the device, or moving to a new iPhone can permanently lose that data. This version does not offer Pelio cloud backup or cross-device restore of journal photos or consumable Coins.
You are responsible for backing up your device with Apple’s tools if you want a device-level backup. Pelio does not guarantee that any particular backup will restore app-private photo copies or Coin balances.
7. In-App Purchases
Pelio may make optional paid digital content available through the Apple App Store. That can include auto-renewing subscriptions, virtual currency (Coins), and other in-app purchases. Core free features stay available if you never buy anything. Apple processes all payments. Pelio does not collect your payment card details or other payment-account information.
What you purchase is a personal license to use those items inside Pelio. Purchased items have no cash value and cannot be sold, transferred, or redeemed for money, except as Apple Family Sharing permits. Virtual currency you buy does not expire under Pelio’s rules, though uninstalling the app or clearing device data can still cause local balances to be lost.
Auto-renewing subscriptions continue unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the then-current period. Manage or cancel under Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Your Apple Account is charged when you confirm a purchase and again within 24 hours before each renewal. If we offer a free trial, unused trial time may be forfeited when you start a paid subscription.
After reinstalling Pelio, you may restore eligible purchases with the same Apple Account. Refund requests are decided by Apple under App Store rules. If Apple refunds or reverses a purchase, Pelio may remove or disable the related benefits. Deleting the app or a local Pelio account does not by itself cancel an Apple subscription.
Subscriptions may unlock optional features such as Favorites, Weekly Reflection, and periodic past-day editing allowances. Virtual currency may be used for certain past-day actions when subscription allowances are unavailable. Product screens in the app describe current benefits; this document does not list prices.
8. Intellectual property
Pelio, its name, branding, layout templates, and software are owned by Pelio or its licensors. Photos and captions you create remain yours; you grant Pelio only the limited local license needed to store and display them on this device to provide the app.
9. Disclaimer
Pelio is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted service, that local data will never be lost, that Community or chat is a live network, or that StoreKit will always be available.
If you are a consumer in the EEA or the United Kingdom, nothing in these Terms removes rights that cannot be waived under the laws of your country of residence.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pelio and its suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost Coins, lost device contents, or substitute services, even if advised of the possibility.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amounts you paid to Pelio through Apple for Pelio in the three months before the claim, except where liability cannot be limited (including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. If the version changes, we will ask you to agree to the new version before you continue using the app. Continued use after agreement means you accept the updated Terms.
